In the academic year 2015-2016, some 5,325 higher education students followed part of their studies or internships in another European country through the Erasmus exchange programme, an increase of just over 4.6% compared to the academic year before.
As a result, the international mobility of students in Flanders continues to increase year after year, and this year it has been the highest since the start of the Erasmus programme. During the past academic year, students were also able to exchange with the Erasmus programme outside Europe for the first time. A further 16 students took part.
Students who opt for an international experience can apply for an Erasmus grant.
